This picture is part of the series „Return-ticket to Daiba“. Limited edition photographic C-print on high quality paper behind plexiglass (Diasec). The plexiglass provides remarkable brilliance and depth to the art work. For extra stability it has an aluminum Dibond base and it comes with an aluminum frame for direct wall mount. It looks like floating in front of the wall. Why this series? Over the last decades you could witness in many industrial societies, that the ability of the human race to adapt the infrastructure to their needs, is phenomenal. Great architecture and incredible technical developement came into existence. During a ride to Daiba (Tokyo) I used an unmanned vehicle, sitting in the car up front, not hearing any sound, because it moved on rubber wheels. When I experienced this futuristic, almost unreal scenery, my phantasy suddenly got stimulated and at this moment I wondered, is this utopia or is this a visual story of a beginning dystopia. But I can hardly imagine, that I as well as the majority of the people, like to live in that kind of world, described by Orwell and Huxley. Therefore I prefer to interpret this futuristic, interesting and exciting scenery as a pre-stage of utopia. A limited number (Edition of 6 + 2) in a larger size (180 x 60 cm) is also available. Helmut Rüger is a German artist, living and working in the Greater Frankfurt area. First trained as a banker, in the following years he established an imports company trading with japanese art and decoration products. Over time he gradually transitioned from business into art and photography. Initially mainly documenting art and japanese garden design for editorials. While running a photostudio in the 90s he continued to travel frequently to far east. Far more than 50 journeys to Japan had a considerable influence on his view of life. Especially his perception on objects and their aesthetic presence gradually changed and he developed an understanding for Tanisaki`s motivation to write the essay on japanese aesthetics „In the praise of shadows“. When he was asked once why he engages in photography and his motivation of creating specific series he stated: "I photograph the feeling which moves me when I view something". As a quiet, introverted person he is able to watch things and scenes and absorbe their energy. To exchange his experiences and feelings with others, photography is the appropriate medium. At best an emotinal accordance araises with the viewer. Helmut Rüger`s work is held in numerous private collections internationally as well as in corporate collections.
