Mahshad is a self-taught artist and drawing and photography has always been her passion and main medium for expression. Afshar believes that our bodies are expressions of the Divine. A sacred temple in living flesh, a woman’s body is a doorway into the Great Mystery, a physical entry into the void of eternity through her womb. For Afshar, there is no art without a mission: art is a transcendental tool with the power to influence and provoke, to act as a personal catharsis and eventually to lead us to a spiritual awakening and a new consciousness.
