Exposing the image sensor of a camera without a lens and using other glass media instead is a technique variously called refractography or reflectography. It wasn’t until I experimented with it that I discovered this technique has its fanatic practitioners. I am not one of them but I did enjoy havin...

In 1960 my family emigrated from UK to New Zealand as '£10 Poms'. Growing up in Aotearoa gave me an appreciation of the natural world and our responsibilities as cohabitants. This is a regular theme for my creative practise. These days this Pommie-Kiwi-Aussie enjoys the good life in tropical Australia, teaching at a university and sharing art at every opportunity. I have always been an experimental visual artist working across diverse media from traditional drawing and painting to time-based and interactive work. Currently in Saatchi Art I present a series of promiscuous blooms - extreme botanicals. Also in this collection are my favourites from an ongoing series of non-objective images created using unusual experimental photomedia techniques. They are offered as limited edition digital prints on art paper. The earliest of them is from 2010 - one of many studies for a commission of 24 archtictural-scale images for a hospital public art project. The most recent is from my garden in January 2023. Each expresses my rapture for sublime spectre and vibrant colour.
