People's Vote Award and Honorable Mention, reFocus Color Awards 2024. Inverted Realities is an award-winning fine art photography project that challenges our conventional understanding of visual perception. By intentionally inverting and changing the colors of familiar landscapes, everyday objects, and human subjects, I aim to spark thought on the limitations and subjectivity of human vision. Through the exploration of inverted reality, I hope to awaken a sense of wonder and curiosity, encouraging viewers to embrace alternative views and appreciate the inherent beauty that lies beyond human sight. Please be aware that aluminum prints take 4-5 weeks to ship. Also available in 24" x 36" and 30" x 45" and custom sizes. Each work is limited to a maximum of 25 prints per size, plus two Artist Proofs. Your artwork will arrive with a Certificate of Authenticity, which will include the edition number of your print, and will serve as future evidence of the work’s legitimacy.

Peter Mendelson (b. 1967) Peter Mendelson is an award-winning Connecticut based artist specializing in fine art photography. After studying history at the University of Virginia and getting his law degree at the University of Pennsylvania, Peter moved to New York City to practice law, where he also started to gain an appreciation of urban architecture and street photography. Peter further refined his vision through workshops conducted by various photographers, including Todd Hido, Magnum photographers Alex Webb and Matt Black, and NYC street photographer Phil Penman. Walker Evans, Andreas Gursky, Robert Polidori, Harry Gruyaert and Martin Parr were also formative influences. Over time, he developed his particular style, using perspective, light, and color to capture the psychological power of urban and coastal spaces. With an anthropologist’s interest in the theme of modern leisure, an eye for architectural detail, and a longterm affinity for the New England coastline, much of Peter’s work centers on coastal pastimes and waterfront and urban architecture. Additionally, an extended childhood stay in Italy exposed Peter to both the classical craft of composition and the Italian way of life. And he has since returned to the country on several occasions, continuing to indulge his photographic fascination with both nautical and recreational themes. Focusing on coastal and urban environments throughout the U.S. and abroad, Peter’s photographs examine those things that are often overlooked, but which reward their viewers when given a second, deeper look. The result is an extensive body of fine art photography, produced both in the US and abroad, that are available as limited edition photographic prints. Peter’s work has been the subject of numerous gallery shows and his strikingly composed and boldly colored fine art photography prints can be found in the collections of both private photography enthusiasts and professional collectors alike.
