Martin Cox (UK/US) has photographed a multitude of landscapes in transition: snow bound Iceland, an English manor house steeped in entropy, the former resort towns at California’s Salton Sea, an ocean liner embedded in a town square in China, a Queen Anne-era English canal project. His photographs suggest the passage of time and presence of history. Some projects explore a vanishing maritime culture and inspire questions about past events, while drawing upon the atmosphere of the present. A commission completed for the Los Angeles Maritime Museum’s new wing takes the form of a large photo mosaic. Exhibited in museums and galleries, his work has also been used in many TV series. The port of Southampton, UK provided early inspiration. Following studies at Winchester School of Art and Exeter School of Art & Design, his first exhibition was in London’s Camden Town. Based in Los Angeles and Iceland, Cox has been exhibited in LA, London, New York , San Francisco and Iceland his works have appeared in photo festivals in Africa and Australia. Martin’s work has been popular with Los Angeles collectors. He is currently working on new material for CA and Icelandic shows in 2020.
