"Stands Out in a Crowd" (Face-mounted Acrylic) Photograph

This art piece is a very modern style face-mounted acrylic photographic print. No framing is necessary. The image bleeds to the edge of the polished 1/4" acrylic. This image is from my "Well rounded?" series. Can photographic layers of ill-cut round shapes depict a portrait of a person's sum total personality and traits, where some layers, pieces, or shapes fade to the background and others push to the surface? Do circles need to be perfectly round to be interesting to look at? Should you even strive to be a well-rounded person? Are your unique traits that shine through enough? Arranging and rearranging the same circles into a collage and then photographing them is an obsession of mine. The process is very meditative and the results always surprise me. The process for this series involves haphazardly cutting out circles, arranging them into a paper collage, photographing them, and then combining several photographs digitally, using various blending techniques in photo editing software to give each one a uniqueness. The layers that form create different colors when the circles are blended. Each photo layer that I add, changes the personality of the image. The name is based on an element of a person's personality. In this particular piece, I see that intense navy blue in the center as someone who truly stands out among all other people. Someone you cannot help but notice. The image is printed on Epson premium glossy photo paper, facemounted on 1/4" acrylic. There is a 3mm PVC black backing for added support and a 3/4" thick metal backer with wire, ready to hang. This face-mounted acrylic print is created on-demand and requires two weeks for assembly.
