About The Artwork

Photography limited edition #2/7 Lambda printed in fine art giclée methyl silicone. 100cm x 200cm x 0.5cm Ready to hang with a back wood frame. Description: The stunning cathedral of Milan, see from the point of view of the film opening crawl “Episode IV. A new hope”. Belongs to a series of photographs about Milan City in wich Marta shows her passion for architecture and her predilection to capture its details, rediscovering the morphology of spaces and buildings, the character of light or shadows and the arrangement of elements. A new interpretation of the object arises, where, through a certain and studied visual perspective and its options when it deploys on itself and multiplies, generates new forms of reality that acquire their own identity. Any feature that appears in the lens is valued for its artistic possibilities. Some parts float light in the sky, other parts break out from the sides, crossing and returning their own reflection, whilst in other pictures the image settles like a kaleidoscope, with the rhythm and equilibrium conferred by symmetry. A new city is born.

Marta Bermejo (Spain, 1977) works as an interior designer, employing photography as her form of graphic expression. At the beginning of her degree in interior design at the italian university "Istituto Europeo di Design", she decided to specialize in this discipline rather than drawing, moving from analogical camera to digital camera and discovering the editing and photographic retouching programs. A long time of digital experimentation followed in which figurative illustration touches the abstract. The objective was to investigate the different results of a same file rather than reaching final conclusions. Her passion for architecture and her predilection to capture detail, drives her to rediscover the morphology of bodies, spaces, buildings or cities, the character of light or shadows and the arrangement of elements. A new interpretation of the object arises, where, through a certain and studied visual perspective and its options when it deploys on itself and multiplies, generates new forms of reality that acquire their own identity. Any feature that appears in the lens is valued for its artistic possibilities, whether it be the electricity cables of a city, a cloudy sky, trees or cranes in a building site. Some parts float light in the sky, other parts break out from the sides, crossing and returning their own reflection, whilst in other pictures the image settles like a kaleidoscope, with the rhythm and equilibrium conferred by symmetry. Fascinated by the concept, Marta has begun to photograph different cities around the world, developing new photographic maps of great intensity and realism.
