Mattia Ruggeri, born in 1970 in Bologna (Italy), where he lives and works, is a poet, photographer and sculptor, who explores the invisible through techniques that challenge traditional perception. His art and writings, a journey between the tangible and the cosmic, have captivated critics and collectors, offering a unique vision that blends the slowness of the creative process with the beauty of error. In 2014-15, Ruggeri enchanted audiences with his solo exhibition “Dust” at the Caldarese Gallery in Bologna, where dust became a symbol of cosmic transformation. The years 2011-2012 saw “Sursum Corda” at the Museum of Modern Art in Bologna, uplifting the spirit through images suspended in time. His presence at the Milan Art Fair in 2011 and his solo show at the Mc2 Gallery further solidified his standing. 2010 marked a turning point with “Cosmic Tree” at the Bank of Bologna, intertwining roots and stars. In 2009, he joined emerging masters at the Mc2 Gallery’s Young Masters exhibition, alongside names like La Chapelle, Witkin, Sugimoto, Basil, and Migliori. Valerio Dehò curated “Slip in the Cosmos” in 2008, an interstellar photographic journey, while the International Marconi Prize and Critics Prize in Termoli (“The Space Wardrobe”) recognized his depth. From the Alexandria Biennial “Shapes of Time” (2008) to “Flying Shadows” (2004) at the Hermitage of Ronzano, Ruggeri transforms the mundane into the extraordinary. In 2017, he expanded his creative exploration with the novel “Shepherd of Stars” a mystical narrative delving into spirituality, power, and human transformation, echoing the cosmic and introspective themes that define his multifaceted career. In 2025, his poetic voice shines in “I Must Speak To Thee Now” a bilingual collection weaving verse with cosmic reflections, uniting his visual art with the narrative of time and spirit.
