"Sunflowers" Photograph

Richard Dawson is an artist who lives and works in London's East End. Richard studied fine art Printmaking and Photomeadia at St Martins School of Art, London and has continued working with 'photographic ' images ever since. "Like most people I discovered scannography by chance, placing a leaf on a flat bed scan, that was about 2003. I lived near London's famous Colombia Road flower market and often walked down that street. When the market traders had left, there were discarded flowers left on the road squashed into the ground, but still beautiful. I wanted to capture this beauty and scanning was the best way to create such movement and action with a still object." The final images are printed out big and each scan is around 200mb. Since using this way of working Richard has had several successful shows with these unique flower captures, they have been used as record covers, published in The Creative Review and bought by collectors.
