ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This photograph was taken on the shores where slave ships set sail for Africa and then onto the Caribbean. Nearly 2 million Africans perished on those voyages, thrown into dark ocean waters. After it was printed it suddenly took on a new meaning. It was as if these teenage boys appeared now as ghosts, apparitions from those watery graves.
