ABOUT THE ARTWORK

When I was a little girl I used to play with my hair and often created sophisticated hairstyles for myself. Now, as a woman with long hair, it has become a texture I am very close to. In many projects I have used hair as a material that adds an organic feel to my compositions. Lately I have noticed a big connection between the colours and shapes used in hairstyles and those found in bakeries and ice cream. In this self initiated series I explored the similarities of these aesthetics by unifying them in lighthearted images. The idea of playing imaginary children's games with food brings life and a bit of whimsy to these playful combinations of props, textures and colours. Born in Mexico and based in Madrid, Paloma Rincón is a visual artist working across multiple disciplines with a strong focus in concept development and art direction. Paloma shoots photographic stills and directs moving image projects in a quirky style marked by bold colors and graphic compositions. Paloma creates visual games using a playful language where the meaning of objects is redefined by unexpected juxtapositions. Her work ranges from experimental and personal projects to commercial assignments for worldwide brands and respected editorial publications. International agencies and clients regularly engage her creativity through commissions and collaborations to create meaningful and striking visual content. “Her work updates the tradition of the still life to the digital, advertising age. And it’s so hashtag aesthetic— no momento mori here; instead, Rincón is interested in bright colors and fascinating forms, with palpable textures and absurd juxtapositioning. She’s a photographer, but also the author of the formal compositions her lens captures” –The Creators Project - VICE Selected Clients: Absolut, Architectural Digest, Black & White Whisky, Bombay Sapphire, Chivas Regal, Coca-Cola, Deliveroo, Diageo, Esquire, Estrella Damm, Ford, Google, Heineken, Ikea, J&B Whisky, KaDeWe, Kleenex, Michelob, N by Norwegian, Nestea, Oreo, Papa John´s, Phase One, PlayStation, Samsung, San Miguel, Schweppes, Sonos, Swatch, TK Maxx, Toyota, Vodafone, Wired Magazine
