I created 8 photographs that I dedicated to King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. This one is the third one of eight. I was releasing one a day until his cremation on 26 October 2017. I took a picture of a flowers Bhubing Palace of Thai King in Chiang Mai. The flowers were colorful, but here I made them black. They were falling like a curtain, appearing like a curtain on the hill side. 160 x 120 cm, digitally altered photograph on textured pvc, edition of 11, 2017 The photograph will also be published in the book: TJASA IRIS, 8 MONSOONS IN SOUTH EAST ASIA, A EUROPEAN UNDER THE TROPICS, PHOTOGRAPHS 2009 - 2017, it will be available at Amazon from end of December on. The photograph is sold unframed, but can be framed at additional cost. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Text From my FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE that describes the series of 8 photographs: TJAŠA IRIS homage to KING BHUMIBOL ADULYADEJ ?acontext=%7B%22ref%22%3A%2222%22%2C%22feed_story_type%22%3A%2222%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22null%22%7D&pnref=story Tjaša Iris created 8 photographs that she dedicated to King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. Tjaša Iris lived in Thailand for many years out of the last 8 years that she spent living/creating/exhibiting in South East Asia. Thailand is her adopted country and King Bhumibol Adulyadej was her King. She spent much of her time creating art at his Bhubing Palace in Chiang Mai. There among King’s rose gardens and thousands of other flowers she found inspiration for many of her paintings and photographs. This is why the 8 artworks in the series are all flowers. They are 8 in edition of 11. By living in Southeast Asia for so many years, she learnt that numbers are important to people. Number 11 means “every day” and number 8 means “prosperity”. Like the new Merdeka tower in Kuala Lumpur will have 118 floors…ect. As she loves Thailand very much she wishes: EVERYDAY PROSPERITY to Thailand and to the Thai people. Tjaša Iris is known as colorist, but this time for these 8 artworks she has chosen Black & White, the colors of mourning. She is releasing her first artwork today and she will release the other 7 ones at 8 in the morning (Thailand time) on days 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 October, until the day of cremation. TJAŠA IRIS is a Slovenian-born (1968) international artist, known for her photographs and paintings painted with bright colors, vivid atmospheres of gardens with lush vegetation and bright light. She is known as colorist with her roots in European expressionism. She earned her M.F.A. in Painting from Academie Minerva in Groningen, The Netherlands in 1995. In the first part of her career she lived and worked as well in Florence, Venice, Paris, Morocco, California and The Pre-Coastal Wine Country of Slovenia. In the last 8 years she has been very much attracted by explosive energy of the South-East Asia. Followed by stays in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, Indonesia, Kula Lumpur, Malaysia, Bokeo and Vientiane, Laos and Chiang Mai e Bangkok, Thailand. She recently had a solo exhibition at BACC Bangkok Arts & Culture Center in the month of August. Her other important exhibitions took place at Jamjuree Art Gallery in Bangkok, an Art Museum of Chulalongkorn University in 2014, at CMU Art Museum in Chaing Mai in 2013, at The Substation Art Center in Singapore in 2012. The 8 photographs will be released here in the event page as well as at all her other web sites and social media sites. ________________________________________
