A former newspaper photographer and editor, I began concentrating on landscape photography in the late ‘90’s and began Quiet Places Photography in 2003. Since then, my work has appeared in numerous juried art shows, publications, and exhibitions. My botanical images are a natural spin-off from his landscape photography, celebrating a close-up, intimate look at the shapes and forms found in nature. In 2009, I started a different project featuring churches in rural and small-town Iowa. “Places of Spirit and Light" has had two solo shows and third will be held at the Stewart Gallery in Grinnell in 2020. The project was published in Issue #109 of LensWork magazine. One photo from that project was included in the LensWork 25th anniversary edition and will be included in another LensWork publication titled “Looking at Photographs” in 2020.
