Carey Coleman (b. 1991) is a Los-Angeles based artist from Waverly, VA. She employs experiments in photographic image making to contend with the phenomenologies of abstraction and pathological color. Informed by a practice that centers writing and drawing alongside photography, her work is an exploration of the inherent construction in apprehension and the indefinite shapes meaning-making takes through an ongoing study of the photographic possibilities for representation. The images suppose a photographic subject beyond the iconographic and into the felt and the conjured.
