At the tender age of fourteen Erik Hagman started taking photographs for his hometown local newspaper, Sala Allehanda. He was educated at the School of Photography and Film at Gothenburg University, has worked as a photographer in New York and as an assistant to, amongst others, Frederik Lieberath and Terry Richardson. Erik’s long experience and professional range has meant that over the years he has worked in most genres. Today he is based in Stockholm and focuses mainly on still-lives, landscapes and cars. Erik is inspired by the sublime in daily life. He has a unique ability to capture soulfulness in still objects and environments that give his motives a distinctive sense of exclusivity. It’s usually the unaffected which is the most powerful. The greatest challenge for me as a photographer is always trying to communicate the beauty of the simple.
