SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Rather than being removed, the figurative subject is transformed, reconfigured into a dense abstract flow of color and texture. A broad, expressive field of layered hues evokes intensity and depth, while the construction underneath remains almost imperceptible, dissolved into gesture and density. ...

My artistic approach is grounded in a liberation from traditional photographic conventions, deeply inspired by pioneers of Abstract Expressionism—especially Hans Hofmann, Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, and Willem de Kooning. Their bold compositional structures and emotional depth profoundly influence my visual language. The experimental spirit of Dadaism and Cubism, along with Clement Greenberg’s critical theories, further shape my creative direction. In photography, I resonate particularly with innovators such as Man Ray, Saul Leiter, Ernst Haas, and the Japanese are-bure-boke tradition, capturing images characterized by spontaneity, raw abstraction, and emotional immediacy. Method and Concept My work embodies the concept of metaphotography, where the act of creation through intentional manipulation of time and movement is integral to the final image. Employing intentional camera movement (ICM), abstraction, and deliberate disruption of scale and perspective, I create images that exist beyond conventional representation. The traces left by the camera’s movement serve as painterly gestures, turning each photograph into a spontaneous and vivid interaction with reality. While painters choose freely from their palettes, my range of creative expression is defined solely by the ephemeral conditions captured within the frame. Through this method, I transcend mere documentation. Instead, my photographs explore the interplay between perception, memory, and sensation, creating a dynamic dialogue with viewers and inviting deeper engagement with the fluid boundaries of visual reality. Born in 1977 in Leningrad, USSR (now St. Petersburg, Russia), I live and work in Finland
