The Escape Artist Limited Edition 2/5 - Limited Edition of 5 Photograph

Edition #2/5. Pigment print on archival, 300gsm matt surface paper. All paper sizes include a 2 inch white border around the print for framing. Peter Horvath exhibits in museums and galleries globally, and his work is included in permanent collections internationally, including the Nion McEvoy collection, and a new addition in 2016 to the Whitney Museum of American Art. He is the recipient of commissions from Rhizome.org at The New Museum, NYC and Turbulence.org New Radio and Performing Arts, Boston. Exhibitions include the Whitney Museum Of American Art‘s Artport (NYC), Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo (Mexico City), the Musée national des beaux-arts du  Québec  (Québec City, Canada) and FILE Electronic Language International Festival (São Paulo, Brazil). "The Escape Artist" is part of the larger body of work titled 'Interventions'. In this series, Horvath deconstructs images from his archive of 20th Century magazines, cutting and pasting fragments out of their intended frame of reference, creating hyper-real, imagined, colour saturated environments. While his imagery is sourced from material that was originally conceived to impact influence (such as mid-century advertisements) it is collaged with the intent of removing the initial context and reason, creating optimistic narratives informed by childhood memories.
