My teenage daughter has depression. We agreed that I would interpret the sensations she feels and try to transform it into an image. Paulo Pampolin is a London-based visual artist whose work explores memory, time and the invisible bonds that connect generations. Through staged photography and conceptual series, he creates poetic images that sit between cinema, dream and fine art. His projects — including Timeless Tales, In Utero and Echoes of Time — investigate childhood, origin, and emotional inheritance, often using symbolic elements such as fabric, water, hair and suspended bodies to evoke states of transition and belonging. Rather than documenting reality, Pampolin constructs visual narratives that invite the viewer into quiet, intimate worlds where past and present overlap. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections. I began my journey in photojournalism — capturing reality in its rawest form for newspapers and magazines. Over time, that search for truth evolved into something deeper: an exploration of emotion, memory, and the subtle poetry hidden in everyday moments. My work bridges documentary instinct with fine art sensibility. I’m drawn to the unspoken — light as metaphor, time as a silent presence, and the human figure as both symbol and story. Photography, to me, is not just about what’s seen, but what’s felt. I create images that invite stillness, reflection, and a sense of timelessness. Alongside my personal work, I also accept commissions and continue to exhibit and publish internationally.
