An abandoned prison in france. I took an interest in photography and the Urban Exploration movement in 2004 when I moved to Leipzig, which is a city very much defined by decay. I found endless opportunities to practise my skills in old GDR factories, obsolete power stations, schools and churches. Since then I made countless trips throughout Europe to find historic buildings that fascinated me. In the beginning most of the people are astonished by the fact that seemingly intact buildings are just left to rot and they ask me why the places couldn’t have been saved. Usually they are also keen to know where the buildings are, which I of cause cant tell them to prevent the places from being vandalised or robbed. Usually my pictures are described to be very emotional and romantic. They give most people the notion that everything is bound to end. When they look at my pictures they do see the beauty that was once there and how nature it slowly reconquering. Edition of 10 with 2 A/P's. Your print is produced Saal Digital on Hahnemühle Baryte Fine Art paper with 325 g/m². It will then be packaged and rolled in a tube sent by courier. I am a 31 year old man from Leipzig, Germany who was born and grew up in Dresden. I studied media management and work full time as a radio producer. The most important thing for me as a photographer is to tell a story with my pictures. The places I try to find, which I have great respect for, have usually a century long history. I want people to look at them and to start wondering what once might have happened in the particular setting. Who could have lived in the old house? Worked and studied in the abandoned university? And what might have happened to them since?
