The last supper revisited. - Limited Edition of 7 Photograph

This image references Leonardo Da Vinci's 15th century mural painting, “The Last Supper.” It explores the connection between human beings, the planet and the spiritual realm. The scene is devoid of human presence despite the table being laden with the excesses of a feast. The sea laps around the table and the dark sky opens up to reveal a heavenly presence. Environmental concerns are at the core of the image. In a 21st century context the feast reveals the extent to which eating habits have changed and how single use plastic produced for the Food Industry have become a huge contributor to marine litter. The artwork’s association to the Last Supper creates a sense of foreboding that warns of the disintegration of our Earth through processes induced by pollution and climate change. The image explores the sacred and profane and the space that exists between them and beyond.
