Photographed by Richard Heeps in Bombay Beach, Salton Sea, California. The combination of the suns rays intersecting the horizon, and the silhouette of the tree unexpectedly rising out of the lake like King Arthur's Sword, create a wonderful ethereal quality to this piece. This artwork is a limited edition of 25, gloss photographic print, dry-mounted to aluminium, it is presented in a museum board white window mount and a choice of black or white box frame. It is signed and numbered on reverse and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. It can be purchased in bespoke sizes, just get in touch. Richard Heeps’ seductive, highly saturated colours and sophisticated pictorial structures demonstrate a true love and empathy for his subject matter – be it cool, descriptive interiors, still life, portrait or landscape. His distinctive style pushes the limits of lens-based photography without the need for digital manipulation. He runs his own darkrooms in Cambridge (UK) where he hand prints his colour photography. His work has been exhibited in Museums and Public Galleries around England, and he has participated in Art Fairs around the world, and his work is now part of many international collections.

Although I was brought up in East Anglia, I was heavily influenced by America, I visited American bases, I kept magazine cuttings and I followed drag racing. The speed, lifestyle and technicolour is reflected in my imagery. Colour is a major aspect to my work, it drives my equipment and material choices. I have made many bodies of work, while there are distinctions between them they are all linked somehow. I have exhibited widely, in the early part of my career following an exhibition at the Photographers Gallery in 1989, many of my exhibitions toured Museums and Galleries around England. From 2007 presentation of my work has mostly been at Art Fairs in the UK and worldwide where it has been brought by many international collectors. My piece 'Thrills' was part of the 2018 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
