Triangulation_31 - Limited Edition of 15 Photograph

An inverted triangle is one of the ancient symbols used by the people of the late Stone Age. It is connected to agriculture and nature. An equilateral triangle— its apex turned downwards—symbolized water, whereas the same figure with a horizontal line within symbolized earth. A triangle by itself symbolizes a surface. The “Triangulation” project has two parts: “Earth” and “Water.” The first part is represented by Chernozemie, one of the most developed agricultural regions in Russia; the second shows the untouched clean waters of the Arctic seas. Both parts deal with surfaces, a purely horizontal surface of water and an uneven yet flat surface of cultivated land. My triangular photographs place a human as a spectator at the forefront, offering a sense of reverse perspective in photography. The space expands from the spectator and does not close down at the far point of convergence. Despite the instability of the inverted triangle, it invites one to take a step inside and enter its space. Like triangulation in geodesy, my triangulation is used to study space, its artistic mapping. To understand and reconsider. This is a large format FILM photography 4x5". Printed in Fujiflex paper RA-4 process. It guarantees exceptional quality and detail of this work. There are three sizes of this work: 140x125, 112x100 and 84x75 cm. This series was originally conceived in the form of triangular photographs.
