My name is Wojtek (eng. Adalbert) and I’d been doing photography probably before I could even walk. When I was 5 years old, my parents gave me first “camera”, which was actually a purple toy with flash (and which I just recalled myself about while writing this bio). The first genuine camera I was attempting to operate was my dad’s old analog Zenith that I had no clue what to do with and I allegedly crashed it within a few minutes of putting my hands on it. Then my grandpa gave me a point-and-shoot Olympus when I was 11, so I immediately began shooting random objects. What seemed to be driving me from the beginning was the childish curiosity of the amazing technology and complicated, fascinating devices rather than the actual art itself. For years I was severely suffering from “GAS” – Gear Acquisition Syndrome, quite common amongst photographers. Anyway, the magic and the beauty of this art I slowly began discovering and exploring long, long afterwards. While studying at law school I photographed weddings, other ceremonies and various events. Every opportunity to create images and make such a contribution to the life of others gave me joy and satisfaction incomparable to anything I’d been doing before. I could already combine something that was evolving from just a hobby into a passion with a part-time profession that gave me extra cash. Then New York changed everything… Following my dreams, in 2014 I finally moved to the, what they call – the greatest city in the world. It used to be the greatest for me either, at least before I started living there. ;) My “New York episode” is another long story. What matters, however, is that it provided me with a tremendous amount of inspiration. I immediately fell for its architecture, both skyline views (which btw started growing rapidly in 2013, when I arrived for the first time) and details of particular buildings (mostly bricks and ornaments), but what ravished my eyes the most were the reflections of sunlight bouncing between the facades, differently at particular times of the day. This set my further intense development in two directions: cityscape and portrait. Well, I’ve always had problem with picking just one thing. But it’s greed, not indecisiveness, I suppose. Living in New York gave me a fabulous opportunity to use mentorship of such masters as: Scott Kelby, Peter Coulson and Peter Hurley, all of whom impacted my skills and the entire career significantly.
