I studied History at the Autónoma University of Madrid, but soon chose the path of becoming a self-taught photographer. I focus my work to explore ideas about concepts of place, identity, memory, history ... start from daily live and explore the road between reality and fiction. “His works are conceived on the basis of certain initial rational approaches, in which the camera or the formal photographic result is not the only ultimate objective, but a means to engaging in an open narrative in which multiple interpretations are possible. Behind his photographs is an endeavour to reclaim what is real, to explore the network of relationships existing around us and to position the city as the primary object of investigation and artistic practice. Urbina is a photographer who seeks to collect his own dreams and everything that we never see because we are, or think we are, too used to seeing it. Such photographic endeavour is a challenging task, and by no means purposeless. It encourages us to learn how to see, to force ourselves to look with simplicity. He used the portrait to narrate little stories.”
