About The Artwork

A hand printed wet cyanotype process made outdoors with natural the sunlight and plants and branches that I collected from my backyard and the forest nearby. Due to the nature of the process, this artwork is one-of-a-kind. It is mounted with an acid-free velvet mat and a backing cover. It is ready to be framed. Mat Size 16”W x 20”H . Artwork side: 10.5" x 13.25". Cyanotype Process: Cyanotypes, also known as blueprints or sun prints, are a 19th century alternative photographic process, which uses ultraviolet light to react chemical mixtures. This mixture consists of ammoniacal ferric citrate and potassium ferrocyanide. This technique is a manual process that uses sunlight to activate the image and water to reveal it. After rinsing, cyanotype produces a blue called Prussian blue. The sun's rays imprint the shape of the objects placed on the paper; the parts exposed to the sun become blue and the unexposed areas keep the initial color of the paper.

Artist Statement “Since I can remember, I have been fascinated by creating new things and exploring materials. I enjoy traditional crafts. That's why I love woodcuts and linocuts. Usually my inspiration and ideas come from the abstract to the real, from life around me, from nature or from graphic forms. Everything inspires me in one way or another. In addition to my passion for woodcut and linocut, I also enjoy other different techniques such as etching, drypoint, and lithography. Currently, I have expanded my printmaking practice to create a new body of work in cyanotype, using primarily botanical elements on fabric, and on Western and Japanese papers.” Award 1st Prize: Press Gang 25 Printmaking Exhibition, Gallery of Mississauga, Canada - 2007.
