About The Artwork

Photography This triptych is from a series of images called WET. To make the series, I purchased a wetsuit for my iPhone, then brought the phone into the ocean and then purposely and continually covered the lens with water to make images that captured the ocean as seen through refracted water. The images were shot with in iPhone 5 contained in a waterproof case using the Hipstamatic Oggl app, and have not been manipulated beyond the orginal Oggl filters with which they were shot. Each image was printed by me in pigment inks on archival, glossy photo paper at 4" square. Each was then mounted to 4" stretched canvases and painted encaustically with several thick coats of unpigmented art beeswax for presentation in tripych format. The work has been buffed by hand to a light shine. This triptych is #1/3 in an edition of 3. Please note, although the imagery is the same, each work in the edition is a monotype, as there are small variations that happen in the hand application of wax.
