This photo is from the series Little Voices and is inspired by swimming in a lake in the Canadian wilderness. There is the feeling of the dark, cool water refreshing you, but at the same time a feeling of not knowing what might be below you. Is there something lurking ? The photo is printed with archival inks on archival paper with a lustre sheen. It has a white border for framing that is aprox. 2" larger that the dimensions.

Patti Normand is an artist that lives and works in Ottawa, Canada. She works in both sculpture and photography, meticulously creating miniature dioramas which are then the subject matter for her photographs. It is a lengthy and intricate process, sometimes requiring many weeks to create the sculpture, before the photo can even be taken. Her interest lies in creating a world that at glance appears real, but upon a closer look is not as it seems. The settings range from everyday neighbourhoods to the Canadian Wilderness and they play an integral part in narratives that are frequently disquieting and absurd. Inspired by her memories and fears they examine our relationship with nature, our indifference to it and each other. Patti has exhibited her works in numerous exhibits in Ottawa and Toronto. Her work is in the Collection of the City of Ottawa, as well as private collections.
