The new thing is young at 50. But are we really young, or have parts begun to weaken? Changing into their pre-birth Beauty. Where chaos treads lightly at our borders, making tears in dreams we hold most dear. We watch our Beauty turn to dust. At first, it seems our loss and we lament in sorrow. But ...

Long a photographer, D Lynne’s portraits of flowers speak of the beauty found in the world, in nature, and in each of us. At every stage from bud to full bloom, and back again to seed, she honors spirit in her portraits. Her intrigue of how plants seek their destiny to show off their magnificent flowers and seeds is evident in every portrait. Working with only natural sunlight and shadow to frame the moment, her camera becomes a tool to see beyond the casual eye, an extension of her heart and mind all at once. Snippets of life’s joys and struggles; insights into the soul. Forever a student of life and nature, her photos view like paintings, with an emotional fabric focusing our eyes to see the story. Brimming with heart, yet technically astute. Portraits of the spirit of the land. Starting out with a brownie camera as a child, and supplemented by a fine arts degree, D Lynne continues to push the limits of what can be seen through the lens of a camera. She speaks of what is real, of the beauty that surrounds us, of how important it is for us to be engaged in nature. Amazed herself by the gifts of the photos she takes, she devotes many hours to fine-tuning her skill. Resistant to asking for training or tips, she likes to think of herself as a self-taught photographer. Her skill in capturing intimate moments, face to face with flowers, comes from investing time each day practicing with hands and eyes at the ground level of spirit. Note from the artist: My photographs are all “straight from the camera”. They are authentic; they are real. Decisions of composition, exposure, and motion are made at the moment the shutter is pressed. After that, nothing is manipulated, enhanced, photoshopped or cropped. To do so would defeat what I work so hard to do: truthfully portray to you the beauty and love that exist all around us. You would not believe me if I did it any other way. Gifts of the soul. As in our gardens, so in our hearts and minds.
