Peter Mendelson (b. 1967) Peter Mendelson is an award-winning Connecticut based artist specializing in fine art photography. After studying history at the University of Virginia and getting his law degree at the University of Pennsylvania, Peter moved to New York City to practice law, where he also started to gain an appreciation of urban architecture and street photography. Peter further refined his vision through workshops conducted by various photographers, including Todd Hido, Magnum photographers Alex Webb and Matt Black, and NYC street photographer Phil Penman. Walker Evans, Andreas Gursky, Robert Polidori, Harry Gruyaert and Martin Parr were also formative influences. Over time, he developed his particular style, using perspective, light, and color to capture the psychological power of urban and coastal spaces. Peter’s work has been the subject of numerous gallery shows and his strikingly composed and boldly colored fine art photography prints can be found in the collections of both private photography enthusiasts and professional collectors alike.
