Wooden Soldier by photographer Nick Psomiadis - I am constantly drawn beneath piers, the converging lines is what attracts me. Some structures are balanced and uniformed whilst others are not. The lines however remain the same as they get closer and closer together. Beneath the pier at Point Lonsdale was a challenge due to the rocky floor beneath the water, with tripod on uneven ground I advanced deeper and deeper into the water until the rocks beneath my feet were no longer visible. This allowed for a smooth flow of water, after many visits to Point Lonsdale I was finally very happy with the end result. Wooden Soldier is printed on Metallic Photo Paper 255gsm in a maximum edition size of 50, the print offered on Saatchi Art is edition 13/50

Nick Psomiadis was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Australia to Greek parents who migrated to the country in the mid-sixties. He received his education from a Technical School, renowned for its comprehensive curriculum integrating both academic and practical skills. This solid foundation paved the way for his successful career in jewelry making, which spanned nearly two decades starting in 1986. Additionally, he indulged in his love for photography, which he pursued as a hobby and pastime. In 2011, Nick made a life-changing decision to follow his passion for photography, leaving behind a fulfilling profession. He furthered his education, completing a course of studies that encompassed both theory and practical training, and was conferred with a "Diploma of Photography." However, he quickly realized that turning his passion into a profession would require immense effort and dedication. Establishing a home studio, Nick laid the foundation for his art, which he created and exhibited for a decade. In the winter of 2021, he achieved a significant milestone by purchasing a studio and gallery space in Melbourne, departing from his modest home studio. Nick currently produces photographic fine art, prints, and displays his works under the name N I K A R T Studio & Gallery, 7/20 Ponting Street Williamstown, Vic 3016. Nick draws inspiration from both the natural landscape and the built environment, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to capture an ephemeral moment in time.
