ZONA by Robert Olejnik Robert Olejnik's works stand in contrast to the flood of banal, commercial photomontages. The works' style is somewhere between conceptual and advertising. Robert Olejnik follows other artists and amateurs of modern photomontage, creating science function works. Post apocalyptic vision, like in Lem's or Tarkowski's works, is not only an estheticized, digitally manipulated image, but also o new, thought-provoking vision. The pop culture has made the images of space ships, humans in spacesuits and hostile aliens familiar. Robert Olejnik has made the fantasy strikingly realistic. It is a step forward from Kobas Laksa's and Kazmierz Podsadecki's visions of urban decay and architectonic chaos. | the technology in the devastated, postindustrial landscape. Robert Olejnik has created a series of portraits of animals placed among the ruins of an urban landscape. High precision of the details and perfection in the execution make it hard to tell if the images were manipulated. The number of details hypnotizes the viewer, who rejects the idea, that the works are a photomontage. In amazement the viewer discovers that among the concrete blocks, trapped in the postindustrial space are lamas, giraffes and bears. The image is even more suggestive, as light, color and clarity of detail make the images akin to daguerreotypes. Near monochromatic images appears similar to the 19th century photography. Here, the term "photo-graphy" can be read as "light" and "memory". The space saturated with light, creates an amazing illusion of reality. Light is of higher importance than color. The intensity of the colors is based on the their relations with other factors. Dimmed, they create an impression of different planes of time merging. One gets an impression of interacting with the future and the past at once. Ideologically, from moralizing. He does not criticize the modern civilization, urbanization, dehumanization, pollution or a general decline. The main theme of his works is adaptation. It means a biological or psychical process, which is created on the course of evolution, or coincidence. The process is mainly functional, and its effect is the adaptation of an organism to a particular set of conditions of its surroundings. Robert Olejnik creates a vision, a particular snapshot of memory, that is presented in the second part of the exposition, which is like a game between the artist, and the influence of other works. One has to determine and shape their meaning for oneself. Edition 10 pcs Moab Entrada Natura paper 120cm x 120cm
