this... (#006) - Limited Edition 1 of 1 Photograph

"this..." is a body of work in response to the “instant upload” culture of photography. With more photographs than ever before and each begging for our attention to tell its story, I have found myself fatigued and desensitised. With mixed feelings towards current photography I abandoned the camera to rediscover the medium. With the demise of photography’s colour analogue printing, this. . . investigates light and gesture through photographic chemical processes. Using a technique exclusive to dying analogue technology these photograms involve physically crumpling light sensitive paper in total darkness before being exposed to light and chemically developed. Without a negative these photograms explore composition, gesture and the atmospheric qualities of light evoking images for contemplation. Employing these tactile processes reinstates the fingerprint of the artist in this now digitally dominated medium.
