About The Artwork
This work was created in the fall of 2021, between the first and the second covid-19 winter by now. Sometimes in that time I remembered my stay as a student architectural assistant in London in the summer and fall of 1987. The artwork turned out to be a monocoloured linocut and gouache on cardboard. What I am interested in is the tension between a controlled gouache application and an often far less controllable printing process. The result itself is unique and not always reproducible in the same way. The motif shows an ambivalent view of an open and at the same time closed house door. Folded, broken and open for the new and today's interpretation of new viewers. So feel free to go on a journey into your own imagination with this picture!
