This digital poster is based on a sketch for Somsak Kongnaphakdee's stainless steel installation, now prominently displayed in front of Central Pattaya Beach mall. What inspired the work? The beauty and rhythm of the ocean inspired the flowing lines and organic forms of this work. What do you hope...

I have been a sculptor for over two decades, and my art is deeply rooted in exploration and storytelling. My work bridges the tangible and the abstract, often beginning with an object, an idea, or even a fleeting moment that sparks my imagination. Whether inspired by mythology, dreams, or fragments of everyday life, I aim to transform these into sculptures that connect deeply with human emotions and experiences. One of my guiding principles in art is the idea that meaning can emerge from seemingly nothing. As a French saying I love goes, “Avec rien, on fait tout”—"Make everything from nothingness." For me, this philosophy reflects the limitless possibilities in creativity, where playfulness and questioning come together to produce something entirely unexpected. Much of my work focuses on the human form, both as a source of inspiration and as a medium for storytelling. The human body carries a profound ability to convey emotion, and I often use it to explore themes of transformation, balance, and resilience. Over the years, this focus has evolved through different phases, each shaped by personal experiences and moments in time. Technically, I enjoy working with materials that allow me to experiment freely, like clay and plaster. These mediums enable me to quickly translate ideas into forms while keeping a sense of spontaneity alive. For more permanent works, I cast in bronze—a material I admire for its timelessness, durability, and tactile qualities. Every piece I create invites touch and engagement, becoming a bridge between the viewer and the story behind the sculpture. In recent years, I have been particularly drawn to mythological figures like Icarus. My "Icarus" series stems from my own experiences learning to fly and reflects the universal themes of ambition, risk, and transcendence. These works represent a blend of my personal journey and my fascination with mythological archetypes. Art, to me, is a synthesis of questioning, playing, and imagining—a process that is constantly evolving. It’s about breaking boundaries, shifting perspectives, and finding meaning in the most unexpected places. Through my sculptures, I strive to create spaces for reflection, wonder, and emotional connection.
