Noticing that rooms in interior magazines dly ever have cast shadows in them intrigued me and became the starting point for a series of etchings on paper combining animals, birds and insects into unusually small spaces. The inclusion of these creatures would playfully introduce what was feared most. My work has been described as "Edgy Beatrix Potter." Well I, grew up with her books and loved them. There is a suggestion of narrative but my intention was always based on the phenomenon of the constant struggle of nature to dominate and enter the home. This is autobiographical as I live in a rural place and this is a daily occurrence.
