Generally I prefer that representational objects are not looked for or identified in my abstract art, but when I studied this print after completion, it seemed to have a kind of party ambience. I had to laugh when thinking it vaguely contains a birthday cake! So happy birthday to everyone who had a birthday this year -- of course that includes you. I love to create work containing abstract drawing and I love to work with textural effects which I think add such a subtle but global effect to an artwork. So this artwork contains and incorporates both which pleases me. I have been inspired by 'scribbly' artists like Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchel. To me, abstract art is more than beautiful effects. It is more like music in that if successful, it incorporates logical patterns. And essentially if abstract art does not represent the material world, perhaps it can be seen to represents the spiritual. In that respect the spirit of this piece is definitely joyful. The print is one of a limited edition of 10 created with archival materials including pigment inks and fine art papers and personally printed in my studio. It has been created through the extensive digital manipulation of drawing, painting, photography, and collage. The artistic process is very similar to traditional printmaking techniques except that it greatly minimizes the use of toxic materials. The piece is unframed but frames can be added for an additional cost.

Thank you for viewing my artwork. I primarily work in the genre of abstraction in the mediums of acrylic on canvas, and limited edition prints on archival papers and metals. My work has been privately critiqued in the studio by world class critics offering their expert view and I have painted with the best at Emma Lake and Triangle workshops. I value aesthetic experience as a vehicle of inspiration and something unique to the human race. Consequently, my purpose is to increase its magnitude through the practice of art. In my work I am usually searching for the mystery that's there before a piece becomes something and tells you everything about itself.
