Laser cut wood block on Fabriano tiepolo white 100% Cotton paper (56x76), self-made ink from: Pine needles, Clover flower, Rhododendron flower, Matai, Red Kowhai, Green kōwhai, Kohuhu (pittosporum), Kaka Beak, Fuchsia, Camellia petals, Rose petals, Totara Leaves. From a body of work for exhibition, that represents factors influencing the health of bees in Aotearoa New Zealand, embedded in the ongoing discourse of urgently required sustainability. My aim was to explore and create a visual message about our ecology’s health. Aspects like climate change, global warming and are global concerns and the noticeable effects are becoming an ever increasingly factor for everyone. I wanted to examine this more closely. I chose to focus on the macro, the small species as a sign of the environment, He Tohu Tahu Toura. “Using native and exotic plants as the base material for her experimental practice, Eason endeavoured to align methodology and message in paper-based works featuring varied approaches to printmaking, mark making and dye-application. A guiding principle of her practice-based research was to reduce the impact her creative practice has on the environment”.

Using native and exotic plants as the base material for my most recent work, I endeavor to align methodology and message in paper-based works featuring varied approaches to printmaking, mark making and dye-application. My subject matter is the small species as a sign of the environment. A guiding principle in my work is to reduce the impact my creative practice has on the environment. I am using soy based ink, natural materials and I make my own inks and dyes.
