Born in Solikamsk, the Urals, Russia. Graduated from the Graphic Art Faculty of Nizhny Tagil State Teacher's Training College. Perfectly completed the thesis ("The Russian province") under the supervision of Yevgeny Bortnikov. Received professional development in Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts and then in the class of professor Udo Scheel in The Academy of Fine Arts in Münster, Germany. Scholar of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Ministry of Culture of Sverdlovsk Region. Received diplomas of youth exhibitions. Participant of city, regional, All-Russian and international exhibitions. Has some personal exhibitions in Russia and Germany. Member of the Union of Russian Artists and the International Association of Art - AIAP UNESCO. --------------------------------------------- The young artist Olga-Maria Klassen prefers “to think” in terms of lines, their movement, interlacing and connection. A line, a stroke, a spot are basic elements in her profession of a graphic artist –they reflect her peculiar vision of the world in black-and-white or monophonic colours. Specializing in the area of engraving and monotipia, the author creates single sheets and whole series which can be called “talk images”. Having graduated from the Graphic Art Faculty of Nizhny Tagil (Russia) State Teacher's Training College, the artist with the German roots continued training in Academy of Fine Arts in Münster (Germany). Two different art schools became the basis for her learning and mastering graphic skills, painting techniques and tools. Klassen aspires to create new forms, search of their harmony and balance in paper space. Olga-Maria prefers to work in the field of linocut, etching and monotype. The technique gives the author ideas about the plasticity of the image, the condition of a sheet and the life of the image itself. She chooses externally simple and plain objects - ships, trees, nets, fish in which she finds the reflection of her feelings and experiences. The space of Klassen’s works is desert. Drafts, desolation, discomfort... There is only a memory that once there were people. The artist prefers to work with close ups, focusing her attention on the leading object. She can fill the space around it or keep it empty to allow the object to breathe. Anyway, there is a dialogue of objects in the environment in which the author is only a guest.
