This piece made by Alejandrina Pérez Barragán in 2019 is a part of the series titled "Polillas" (Moths). The figure of the black moth, a popular sign of death and a bad omen, appears peaceful in a cycle of hopeful visits, violet flights and resting chrysalises. Alejandrina points to these creatures and offers us the opportunity to perceive the learning of their metamorphosis. It is an awareness of life cycles, of the communion between the death of the larva and the birth of the butterfly.

Espacio Mutante is a mexican space of art, located in the City of Guanajuato and focused on visual and plastic experimentation. Since 2015, Espacio Mutante has been a place of constant changing, a nature that has permeated our art production and that's given our studio it's name. Proud of the raw energy that our colorful space provides, we can say that Crudity is our specialty. Numerous artists have passed through this project, visiting and residing the building but also contributing with the artwork. Product of these exchanges, which used to result in our emblematic "Aquelarre" art parties and immersive circuits, Anonymous Collective Art (A.C.A.) came into existence. A raw, savage force of collaboration, A.C.A. became the signature form of work and experimentation for Espacio Mutante. Given the pandemic circunstancies, we now continue to develop new ways of collaboration and techniques for creating in collectivity. We seek connection, humor and the crudity of the soul. Espacio Mutante's three pillars of co-direction came from multiple backgrounds: Carlos Guerrer, Alejandrina Pérez Barragán and Julio Sahagún Sánchez. These mexican artists reside in the city of Guanajuato, guarding the pieces that multiple anonymus workers have intervened and proliferating new works of art with a philosophy of Crudity and Experimentation.
