About The Artwork
This diptych (two paneled) work of art was created using two monotype plates placed side by side. I was inspired by fireflies and their nightly summer dance. Concentrating on gesture, you can loosely see shapes that echo the shapes of floating leaves or lily pads. Many gestures have bold, white mini explosions, indicative of the moment the fireflies light up the evening! Layers of color are subtlely indicated, including colors of terra cotta, pink, warm beige, blue, gray, brown, ochre, yellow, red and white. Hand coloring is also a part of this unique work of art. Printed on a half sheet measuring 15"h x 22" w, each monotype plate measures 8"h x 10"w, for a total printed space of 8"h x 20" w. This is a one of a kind piece!
