About The Artwork
Etched in fine detail, drawing into copper. I used Aquatint to sharply delineate tone and create the illusion of depth and perspective into the surface.I made this copperplate aquatint etching as a double mirror print image which I played with as the edition evolved. As each print is a hand finished original. I was inspired by the water labyrinths of the Indian palaces of Rajasthan. These were built for entertainment, however I transposed into weighty objects, as if encasing great treasure-like knowledge. This is an object of contemplation, an representation of the illusions in the material world and the changeable nature of duality.
