About The Artwork

Sir Ernest Shackleton's expedition in 1914 - 1917 to make the first land crossing of the Antarctica ended in failure by losing his ship the Endurance to the icy waters. His heroic rescue of his crew was my inspiration for the print. It is a collagraph and photo etching of his ship among the icy landscape. This large print has also a fine sparkle incorporated in the final ink run so it gives it a slight glistening as ice does in nature. It is an artist proof and one of a kind. The recent discovery of the Endurance wreck in the icy waters of the Weddell Sea in Antarctica is a timely reminder of this epic story!
