This print is the first of a new series gathering strange images of space and artist renditions from the Light Ages. The idea for this print came from Mary Agnes Clerke’s Modern Cosmogonies, a chapter titled Inevitable Ether, where she poetically writes about ether as the primordial and incorruptible substance that contains all matter. The top band depicts the Moon as it appears from Earth during each phase. The lower band shows a representation of earth, the third planet from the sun sending signals to outer space, as engraved in the Voyager Golden Record sent to space in 1977. Paper size variable

Gala Bell is a London based multidisciplinary artist. The alchemy of matter is at the centre of her practice, motivated by the foundations of painting that remain sources of emotion. Graduate of the Royal College of Art, she has been selected for exhibitions with The Design Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, The London Design Festival, The Korean Cultural Institutes in Berlin and London, Kunsthalle am Hamburger Platz Berlin and Galerie der HBKsaar in Saarsbrucken. Her work has been featured in notable publications including Sotheby’s Made in Bed Magazine and on BBC One television, as well as participating in the live Talk at Ten panel discussion. She was shortlisted for the Ashurst Art Prize 2021, and was selected for Saatchi’s Rising Stars 2022, with an added special interview feature for Saatchi’s One to Watch.
