From my house, I can see birds, and beach, fields and forest, sunrises and sunsets, new moons and stars, and I wish the same for you. A kind reminder to sometimes raise your eyes and look around, see what there is, a beautiful life! A large blue and white linocut looks deceptively simple, but can actually be right there with the most difficult, to make an image really work when you only have 2 "colors" means you have to look at things in a different way. I use a fantastic paper, crisp white with a velvety surface, and the best waterbased ink. All my linocuts are handprinted by me, the artist, and I sign, title and number each print. "Life is beautiful" is printed in a short edition of 95 prints, you might not receive the number seen in the photograph. The linocut itself measures 16" x 23", (40cm x 60cm ) and the beautiful piece of clear and crisp white printmaking paper measures approx 27" x 19", (70cm x 50cm) Linocuts are wonderful graphic pieces of printmaking, that can make for a real focal point in your room, you are so welcome to ask me about framing advice etc. The home interior photos might not be entirely to scale. Almost 20 years a full time printmaker and I am as much in love as the day I pulled my first print! My presses have moved with me, from Borneo to Singapore, from Singapore to Spain, and now on to Denmark, where I have set up my studio and gallery. I am self taught, a book, a way to thick copper plate and a gallon drum of nitric acid, making every mistake you could, and learning, learning as I went along. I started with etchings and added linocut when we moved to Singapore. Here I also taught printmaking at Singapore Tyler Print Institue, picking up and learning from the master printmakers there. I never want to be too "old" to learn, to challenge myself, to do better! My inspiration comes from a variety of sources, I have no single line of work, but prefer to make images as they come into my head, through books, I love to read, through radio, music and a huge part, from my daily dogwalks, that not only provide inspiration from nature but also moments of contemplation that results in many of my prints! All my prints are printed on best quality printmaking papers (favorites are Magnani, Fabriano, and Hahnemuelhe) with Charbonnel etching inks.
