"Hear ye the words of the Star Goddess The dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven She whose body encircles the universe I am the beauty of the green earth And the white moon among the stars And the mystery of the water And the desire in human hearts Call unto your soul Arise and come unto me For I am the soul of nature who gives life to the universe From me all things proceed and unto me all things must return." One of the holiest images in ancient paganism was the goddess giving birth. I created this series of linocutprinted artwork to celebrate the primordial magical and powerful act of birthing. It is inspired by Monica Sjöös gorgeous and important artwork "God giving birth". "To see a woman in the act of giving life is still considered unfit for the eyes of children, whereas to see a man in the act of taking life is a daily occurence for every child in our media centered society." /Barbara G Walker Just something to think about...
