About The Artwork
This print was for a themed exhibition in Graphic Studio Gallery, Dublin entitled Strumpet City. I made many drawings in the night standing in a porch to not get wet from the rain to have the raw material for this print. I’d always loved this bridge. It must be one of the prettiest bridges ever. Anyway I wanted to fuse the actual architecture with a spirit of the place. The feel for this I got through the time spent there concentrating in the wet and cold. Then in the studio whilst making the plates the feeling of place and people came forward. I used only aquatint for this print so it’s more like a painting than a drawing.
