Inspired by the poem: Under the Pines by Kate Louise Wheeler Under the pines, on a summer's day, I list to a whisper from far away, And, lying low, with my half-closed eyes, Behold the beauty of fairer skies. Somee say 'tis the sound of the sighing sea, Whose distant murmer steals over me; Some say 'tis the baby breeze instead, That rocks in the branches overhead; But I know it is neither wave nor breeze, On shining sands and in leafy trees; 'Tis the music sweet of a voice divine, That whispers peace to each pensive pine.

Violet Polsangi is a Norwegian-Iranian artist who mainly works with acrylic paint on canvas. Her paintings have a unique geometric style that combines both abstract and concrete elements. Violet Polsangi was born in Tehran, Iran, and started to paint already as a child. As a teenager she was an apprenticed to several famous Persian artists, and as a 24-year-old, she was accepted to the biennial at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. In 1993 Violet Polsangi moved to Oslo in Norway, where she has lived since. In Oslo she studied at Einar Granum Art College, and also studied to be a Teacher in Art and Design at Oslo University (Oslo Met). Over the years Polsangi have developed the distinctive geometric style that combines the abstract and the concrete. Although her paintings might be mainly abstract, they usually contain elements from both architecture and nature. Many of Polsangis works might be perceived as fictional sceneries, where elements from architecture and nature are used as theatrical backdrops beyond time and space. The absence of people in her motifs strengthen a mystical theatrical feeling, maybe before the performance or after the show has ended. Polsangi usually work with strict geometrical shapes and controlled straight lines in her images, but her creative process in composing her paintings is very intuitive and improvised. Starting with simple basic forms, the motif develops and changes along the way. She usually works with a painting knife to put the acrylic paint on canvas and use tape to create the sharp edges. In recent years, Polsangi have also started to explore Digital Graphic Artwork in the same style and design. Violet Polsangi is a member of Norwegian Association of Independent Artists (NFUK) Polsangis artwork is represented by several Norwegian galleries, among them FineArt Oslo, Norways biggest art gallery.
