The image is showing a dragon/snake that emerges from the landcape and has some unusually fluffy wings. It is inspired by the poem "How a dragon is born" by famous Bulgarian poet Georgi Constantinov. It was created as part of a series of illustrations for the bilingual edition of his book " Tree and Bird", published in 2021 by Publishing House Govostis in Athens, Greece. This is a cyanotype print of the illustration, created for the solo exhibition by the artist Sophia Hadjipapa, which accompanied the book launch in Nicosia, Cyprus, in November 2021. here is the poem as translated by Valentin Krustev : HOW A DRAGON IS BORN The beginning is a fight Between the falling cross Of a bird And a serpent, Bent like a bow ... An age-long dispute Between the strong wings And the wingless perfidy Of the earth. The two God's creatures Fight odiously. They fight vehemently, Long, Hopelessly ... Exchanging blows end wounds That scare But don't kill ... At last They embrace each other. And they become one. They fly away together Up in the blue sky ... A snake with wings. And a bird with an Unexpected Perfidy. That is how a dragon is born ***
