'In Conversation II'
Paper size: 57 x 44cm
Image size: 38 x 30cm
Original handmade twelve colour screenprint on Fabriano Rosaspina 285gsm.

The sister print to this piece has just been EXHIBITED AT THE ROYAL ACADEMY IN LONDON. Now sold out.

A handmade, original screenprint on finest quality Fabriano Rosapina 100% cotton paper (285gsm)
(lovely and thick off white Italian printmaking paper with a slight texture. Deckles to some edges)
Signed, titled and dated in pencil at the bottom . Edition of 15 . Sold Unframed

This is a recent piece of work, it has a textured appearance in parts of the print, as I hand draw my stencils with china graph pencils. The inks have a lovely chalky quality and work extremely well on the Fabriano paper which is lovely and thick with a slight texture.

All my prints are created entirely by hand, from the initial drawings, mixing of the inks, to the actual pulling of the ink across the silk screen onto finest quality paper. Every edition is very small, so you are buying something unique and of the highest quality, lasting a lifetime. This is different to 'Limited edition giclee' prints which are reproductions (inkjet prints from a computer) and not originals.

This is a twelve colour screenprint, which means lots of hard work!

Emma Lawrenson is a British printmaker. She lives and works from her farmhouse studio in the Yorkshire countryside. After studying for an M.A in printmaking at the Royal College of Art in London, Emma describes it as an experience that has shaped her life ever since. She has gone on to exhibit and sell her work all over the world. The techniques and formal qualities of printmaking have always fascinated Emma, and her work is an engagement with the process, where she is passionate about craftsmanship. ‘The process of screen printing and the time it takes to build up a final image is what holds the beauty of a piece; it’s a fundamental part of its soul. My prints may look ‘designed’, but are often rather intuitively and organically made. It’s a nice way to work, capturing a moment; a feeling I have at the time and just going with it.’ Emma’s work ultimately emerges by intuition, her style is minimal and peaceful, and she is passionate about colour, which is always very carefully considered. She loves walking, photography and travel; where anything from the smallest shape, shadow, pattern, texture or colour can trigger an idea. ‘I strive to create something beautiful and understated in my work, and I have always been drawn to work that feels calm’. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her work has appeared in many magazines including ‘Vogue’, ‘House and Gardens’, ‘Art Review’, ‘Country Living’, ’25 Beautiful Homes’ amongst others. She has even had work on film and television sets in America with Universal Studios.
