Limited edition giclee print on paper from an original oil painting. Proofed, signed and numbered by the artist, with certificate of authenticity. While exploring a moss-covered glen beneath the ruins of Scotland’s Rosslyn Castle I come upon this tree whose trunk had burned out, leaving a cocoon-like opening. It feels a very safe place, like the embrace of a beloved grandparent. I’m tempted to crawl inside. Surely it serves as some critter’s shelter at times, and it invites me to consider the idea of home and what that means to each of us individually. Not just as physical protection from the elements but also as a refuge for the heart. Home. The word alone causes flutters. I squeeze myself in, thanking my old friend for the embrace and for gifting me this painting idea.

About the Artist Award-winning oil painter Paul Bond was born in 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently lives and works in Southern California and Costa Rica. Paul Bond's art lives in the spaces between dreaming and reality. Drawing from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism, his paintings merge symbolic, surreal and fantastic elements with realistic atmospheres to unveil a world where everything is possible. At times, they simply express a whimsical aspect of life. Yet most works also carry deeper metaphysical and philosophical messages illuminating the world of our dreams and subconscious thoughts, fears and hopes. Bond’s work has won numerous awards and been featured in galleries, museums and cultural centers, including The Gateway Museum and The San Diego Art Institute. His paintings are now in private collections throughout the US, and worldwide. Corporate collections include Fox, Warner Bros and NBC Studios, Royal Caribbean International, Marriott Hotels, Scripps and Stanford Hospitals; and his works are featured in numerous contemporary art publications.
